I am looking to upgrade our v3.9.1.1 server install to the latest version.

In doing so, I want to ensure that all of our custom Winflector Server v3.9.1.1 applications and custom application settings are retained and then carried forward into the new version install.

Could you please provide a set of step-by-step instructions to accomodate the above?

Hello,

Before upgrading, please back up'tguicfg' and 'license' directories and guiapp.cfg file (if exists). Probably you will not use the backup later, but please do it for safety reasons.

When you try to install the latest version you will be asked about uninstalling the previous one. Please do it. When uninstalling you will be asked about configuration files - please leave them on the disk. After your Windows is rebooted install the new version in the same folder. When you start it first, your configuration database should be updated keeping all your old setting unchanged.

Okay, so I followed the instructions given above precisely. At this point the old server verion has been uninstalled with the latest version successfully installed.

In advance of the install, both the the "tguicfg" and "license" folders were backed up.

As well, and as seen in the attached screen captures, following the new version install all of our original version configuration database files and original license file remains entirely intact.

However, when attempting to run the new version we now get the followign error:

"Winflector - you have no rights to this version. Please contact the software vendor to buy the version upgrade."

In advance of installing the new version, I was under the impression that there would be no addtional fee for version upgrades...

If for some reason I misunderstood the no fee version upgrade issue, we will then need to uninstall the new version and then restore the original verion. If this is the case, please provide instructions for accomodating the new version unistall and original version reinstall.

Please advise.

Winflector version upgrades are free for the first year after the initial purchase. 

Please check the price for desired upgrade on Winflector store. Free version upgrades will be marked with *.

At this point, considering where we now are, is it possible to uninstall version 3.9.6.8 and then restore (reinstall) verision 3.9.1.1?

While preserving and restoring all of our 3.9.1.1 version users, configuration settings and applications?

If so, please provide instructions for accomodating the 3.9.6.8 version unistall and original 3.9.1.1 version reinstall and restoration.

Following 3.9.1.1 reinstall and settings restoration, now that we understand the upgrade pricing structure, we will upgrade to the latest version in Q3 of this year.

Reinstallation procedure consists of 3 main steps:

  • remove Winflector drivers. This step is necessary if you downgrade from 3.9.6.8 to 3.9.1.1. 

  • remove Winflector installation with Winflector unistaller

  • install Winflector 3.9.1.1 and copy all configarion files saved before ugrade.

Below please find a detailed information on removing Winflector drivers.

1. Remove Winflector printer driver 

Please run cmd.exe "as administrator". Go to c:\winflector\server\drivers\wfprinter.

On 32-bit systems please run: prninstall32 -uninstall 

On 64-bit systems please run: prninstall64 -uninstall

2. Remove Winflector File Driver

Please run cmd.exe "as administrator". Depending on your system please go to the appropriate directory. 

 On Vista 32-bit to c:\winflector\server\drivers\wfflt\x86\vista_srv2008.

 On Windows 7 32-bit to c:\winflector\server\drivers\wfflt\x86\win7.

 On Windows 8, 8.1, 10, WinSrv2012 32-bit to c:\winflector\serverdrivers\wfflt\x86\win8.

 On Windows XP 32-bit to c:\winflector\server\drivers\wfflt\x86\winxp.

 On Vista 64-bit to c:\winflector\server\drivers\wfflt\x64\vista_srv2008.

 On Windows 7 64-bit and 2008R2 to c:\winflector\server\driverswfflt\x64\win7_srv2008r2.

 On Windows 8, 8.1, 10, WinSrv2012, WinSrv2012R2,WnSrv2016 64-bit to c:\winflector\server\drivers\wfflt\x64\win8_srv8.

Please run: c:\winflector\uninst\dpinst.exe /U wfflt.inf

3. Remove Winflector serial port driver

 Please run cmd.exe "as administrator".  

On 32-bit system go to c:\winflector\server\drivers\wfcom\inst_x86 directory.  

On 64-bit system go to c:\winflector\server\drivers\wfcom\inst_x64 directory.  

Please run: wfcominstall uninstall
