Hello.

We have deteted the following problem: Print jobs sizes increases a lot from local to remote :)

In the image, we can see the print jobs of the same map, printed in the same printer, in several ways both local and remote.

The map is "big" so it generates big print jobs even on local.

In general remote print jobs are bigger than local, but we notice this:

- when we print only one page, page 4 in the example, it generated a much bigger print job.

- when we print using four print jobs, generated in sequence immediatly one after the other, the first is big but the others are reasonably in size (only a few more MB).

Just for your information this particulary map has 42 pages, local it generates a print job of 260MB. We were unable to generate a print job in remote. Just didn't lauch anything.

- Print page by page was an implementation in order to try to avoid this and allow the client to print the map.

Is there any information you can provide on this matter?

Best Regards,

Paulo Pinheiro

The print job is encapsulated in EMF file - this is a text file, which is efficiently compressed before being sent to client for printing. So don't worry about the transfer size.

You can also try bitmap printing instead of EMF - in client configuration set "Printing/Printing via bitmaps". Please make such test and let us know.

My problem with the size was because the map didn't print, the print job was never created.

With Bitmp configuration, the print job was 350 MB, but it works!

If color printing is not necessary then you can use bitmap printing with 2 colors to decrease the job size.

If you send us a demo program we will see why printing via EMF does not work.
